Friends Of Himalaya (FOH) Efforts For Helping Farmer
FOH has linked existing religious and cultural practices with the ways to generate livelihood. ‘Donate us a Cow’ was one such creative project implemented in Uttarakhand. As per Hindu scriptures, it is considered pious and mandatory custom during certain religious ceremonies to donate cow. Rampant urbanization turned this customary practice into a symbolic ritual.
FOH encouraged people to donate real cow and earn satisfaction that comes with following the religion by scriptures. Our volunteers identified that there are many farmers, who are willing and physically capable but they are too poor to invest money in buying mulching cows, can be benefitted from this custom. Such farmers will received the cows from donors through our organization.
This project helped many poor farmers.
